Which plan am I on?

  • Plan 1: English or Welsh students who started before September 2012, and Northern Ireland students.
  • Plan 2: English or Welsh students who started between September 2012 and July 2023.
  • Plan 4: Scottish students.
  • Plan 5: English students who started on or after 1 August 2023. Repayments start from April 2026.

Example

On a £35,000 salary with a Plan 2 loan you repay 9% of (£35,000 − £29,385) = £505 a year, or about £42 a month. With a Plan 5 loan it would be £900 a year (£75 a month).

See what you'll repay with the student loan repayment calculator, or include it in your payslip with the take-home pay calculator.
